An Equal Byte of the Apple

Fairness, opportunity and the role of women in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

On September 16, 2020, our founder, Njideka Harry participated in a virtual discussion with an all-women esteemed panel moderated by Professor Ylva Rodny-Gumede, Dr. Stella Bvuma (both from the University of Johannesburg), and Juanita Clark. They discussed fairness, opportunity, and the role of women in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Harry shared, “Women need to be a part of fundamental decisions made in and by technology companies regarding product development, regarding innovation, because women have a critical role to play.”

There are global inequities when it comes to access to technology but there is also a major disparity between men and women as contributors in the world of technology. Youth for Technology Foundation along with other organizations across the globe are working tirelessly to mend the current gap and demand an equal voice for women in technology.

The University of Johannesburg has been hosting a series of online Cloudebate™ discussions and this particular discussion was titled, “An Equal Byte of the Apple.” If you would like to learn more about the powerful discussion please watch the video below.
