  • YTF celebrates its impact on more than 10,000 youth in Nigeria and their role in the recently concluded free and fair elections as a result of its Yes, Youth Can! program.

  • YTF partners with Nokia on TakeItBack, an advocacy campaign designed to encourage proper disposal of mobile devices in Africa.

  • Students at Bond University in Australia, select YTF as the beneficiary of a "Phones 4 Change" drive.

  • YTF celebrates its partnership with and impact on students in over 450 schools.

  • YTF launches Agric-P.O.W.E.R. a platform for rural women farmers and youth to create sustainable lives.

  • YTF hosts 12 Former Peace Corps Volunteers at the Owerri Digital Village.
  • Celebrating the more than 45,000 rural women that have been positively impacted by YTF’s work through the Women’s Economic Empowerment Program.
  • YTF hosts two interns from Cameroon at the Owerri Digital Village.
  • YTF expands its work to Cameroon.The Ewelle Digital Village offers entrepreneurship training and monthly career workshops for community members.
  • YTF recruits it 100th volunteer.
  • YTF donates over 400 computers to other community based organizations in low-income communities in the U.S.

  • YTF celebrates a milestone of having positively impacted 100,000 people.
  • YTF receives an international award from the United Nations Online Volunteer Services for the “Online Team of the Year”. The award acknowledges YTF’s effective use of online volunteers in our mission.
  • YTF invited to speak at an Intel sponsored conference, “UN Meets Silicon Valley”.

  • YTF is a finalist in the Yeoman's Award for Local Content recognizing YTF's work in the Young Scientists and Health Tele-Academy, a program designed to equip youth with the technology tools to be effective rural information workers.
  • Media education expert at McGill University, Irving Lee Rother, Ph.D, volunteers as a media instructor at the Owerri Digital Villageteaching youth about the importance of importance of digital media and participatory approach to learning.
  • YTF celebrates impact in 150 schools.
  • YTF receives recognition from the United Nations International Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the Japanese Trust Fund for the implementation of the
  • Women’s Economic Empowerment Program (WEEP) in the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. 500 multi-media CD’s (eLearning guides) were produced and over 1,200 women participated in the program.
  • YTF celebrates its 100th community.

  • United Nations Information Technology Services (UNITeS) places Charles Galusha and Resty Mwogeza, as volunteer instructors at the Owerri Digital Village.
  • YTF is invited to present its work at a forum, “Ubiquitous Technology” at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) in Tunisia. Over 80,000 were in attendance.

  • In partnership with the local community, YTF designs the “Young Scientists and Health Tele-Academy". The program received international recognition from the Stockholm Challenge Awards. World Bank Small Grants program recognized YTF’s work by awarding a grant.
  • YTF's Owerri Digital Village hosts 2 international volunteers from the United States.
  • YTF reaches a milestone having trained 1,000 young people.
  • A “movement” is born. The Owerri Digital Village paradigm is replicated in other regions of Nigeria; hence the founding of the Lagos Digital Village, the Benue Digital Village and the Akwa Ibom Digital Village.

  • YTF holds its first fundraiser in the United States at the University of Washington. The theme is "YTF - Making Dreams a Reality."
  • Microsoft Library/Press in Redmond, Washington donates over 1,000 booksto YTF.
  • YTF partners with Teachers without Borders (TWB) to collect, refurbish and donate technology equipmentand books to like-minded community based organizations in Nigeria. Rotary Foundation and DHL provide logistical and shipping support.
  • YTF’s Owerri Digital Village becomes the Global Education Initiative (GEI) “hub” for Africa. Using a multi-media network of interactive web-based technology, youth worldwide collaborate with each other and with leading international scientists, engineers and educators.
  • YTF’s founder selected as a fellow at Stanford University ~ Reuters Digital Vision Fellowship Program. The program provided a platform for social entrepreneurs interested in technology and development.
  • YTF recruits its first 25 online volunteers from the Stanford Alumni Volunteer Network.

  • YTF receives a Social Enterprise Leadership (SEL) award from Digital Partners for its work with community technology and rural development. YTF is invited to participate and share best practices at the Baramati Information and Communications Technology (ICT) conference in India.
  • Programs commence at the Owerri Digital Village. In partnership with the local community, YTF introduces its core programs; TechKids, TechTeens, TechCommunitiesand TechEnhancements.
  • YTF's impact using technology for development is recognized by Bill Gates Sr. at the Annual Microsoft Community Affairs Awards Ceremony in Redmond, Washington.
  • YTF is recognized in the World Bank InfoDev Program for its empowerment program for youth and rural women farmers.

  • YTF is legally registered as a non-profit, charitable organization. An 8-person Board of Trustees and a 10-person Advisory Board is appointed.
  • YTF establishes its first Community Technology and Learning Center (CTLC), the Owerri Digital Village (ODV)in southeastern Nigeria. Seed funding is made possible by Microsoft Corporation.
