TakeItBack

“Africa is at the centre of a mobile revolution. In 1998, there were fewer than four million mobiles on the continent. Today, there are more than 500 million. What happens to these phones when they are obsolete”?

TakeItBack

By 2016, the number of mobile devices on the planet is projected to outnumber people.

YTF’s TakeItBack program teaches youth to apply the 3 principles of reduce, reuse and recycle for the efficient control and management of material.

Youth participants advocate for the proper disposal of obsolete mobile phones from businesses, schools, households and government agencies. Youth are employed from local schools as “green ambassadors”. YTF conducts workshops where youth participate in small group discussions, complete case studies and perform environmentally-focused skits.
