March 2013 – LAN Cargo, a Latin American freight transport company in
Miami, Florida, gave the largest technology hardware donation to date for
Youth for Technology Foundation’s (YTF) community technology centers. LAN
Cargo’s commitment to donate 400 laptops or desktops in 2013 to YTF kicked
off this month with the first batch of 60 laptops.
YTF will refurbish the hardware and distribute the equipment to community
technology and learning centers across YTF’s service areas, including
Cameroon, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and even low-income
communities in the United States. Most notably, the technology will help
build capacity in YTF’s expansion to Latin America with a new technology
center in Colombia.
